Experience the Architecture Of Northbridge

2208 f0

On Saturday 10 September discover the architecture of the delightful lower North Shore suburb, Northbridge. It is only 7km away from the city, however you feel miles away.

Northbridge like its surrounding suburbs, is a peninsula jutting into Middle Harbour. It has Sailors Bay to the north and Long Bay to the south. It has approximately 2000 houses as well as older style flats and units.

The spine of Northbridge is called Sailors Bay Road, which traverses through the middle of the suburb, giving views to Castlecrag, Seaforth, Beauty Point, Cremorne and Neutral Bay.

Learn about the history of Northbridge and explore its streets to discover a wonderful and varied range of architect designed houses. It still has remains of aboriginal rock engravings and shell middens close to the water.

Northbridge was named after the bridge that links Northbridge to Cammeray, built over Tunks Park.

This tour will give you an insight into another suburb of Sydney which may not have known about.

Highlights include:

  • 1950's architect designed houses by Harry Seidler and Doug Snelling to contemporary houses designed by Marston Architects and Jorge Hrdina;
  • An ex prime minister's house;
  • Take in wonderful views of Middle Harbour.
