NSW: At Home With the Architect Visits Balmain

This months NSW At Home with the Architect, takes place on Sunday 25 June. Visit 'Screen House' designed by Carter Williamson Architects in Balmain.

The residential project comprising of alterations and additions to a weatherboard cottage, is named for its bespoke black perforated screens. These have been designed from a photographic image taken and loved by the clients.

The modest traditional street facade conceals a dramatic contemporary transformation to the interiors and rear outdoor spaces, that are designed to accommodate a growing family and facilitate a sense privacy for the inhabitants.


Carter Williamson Architects is a small award winning architecture practice based in Summer Hill, established by Shaun Carter in 2004.

The practice works across a wide range of project types including, residential, commercial and retail spaces. They have also completed projects in the cultural sector - including photographic exhibitions, architectural festivals and set design, as well as the humanitarian fields through the design of sustainable flat-pack housing prototypes.
