New Book On Contemporary Australian Architecture

'Materiality: Brick and Block In Contemporary Australian Architecture' released in June 2015 presents a fascinating case study into how Australian Architects are experimenting with bricks and blockwork in the design of buildings.

Commissioned by Brickworks Building Products and edited by Sydney writer Ron Ringer, the 570 page publication illustrates the art and artistry of designers and architects working in Australia today.

Featured in the book are 60 projects by Australia’s leading and emerging architects as well as illustrated essays and technical articles by 20 distinguished academics and industry practitioners.
Chosen in consultation with contributors, each case study and essay makes a bold statement about the Australian home and workplace. Architects and designers also share practicalities and insights of working with one of Australia’s most diverse and sustainable building materials.

“With Ron’s understanding of the medium coupled with his passion for Australian architecture, we’ve created an inspiring new book that really captures the essence of Australia’s ongoing obsession with brick and block,” says Brett Ward, General Manager Marketing Brickworks Building Products who commissioned the project.
