On Saturday 23 June 2012, the Australian Architecture Association launched a new architectural walking tour in Redfern. Developed with the support of the City of Sydney's Local Community Grants Program, participants were treated to an insight into how Redfern has developed and is evolving into a cultural hub and hot property prospect.

Led by our volunteer tour leaders Terence Yong and Kian Lee, the group of over 20 attendees wandered the streets and laneways around Redfern discovering a series of architectural gems both old and recent. Starting from the old post office, we went through side streets to see some hidden residential buildings and then walked towards the railway line to see some commecial and public architecture. The two-hour walk concluded at Redfern Park, discovering the urban design of the renovated park and the recent changes in the demographics of the area.
Tour attendees, AAA members and guests were invited after the walk, to enjoy refreshments at Simmer at Souths. Over delicious nibblies and drinks participants had an opportunity to discuss their thoughts about the buildings and their design.
