The inaugural Sydney Architecture Festival will be held on Monday 1st October which is a public holiday in Sydney.
It is also World Architecture Day and World Habitat Day.
The Australian Architecture Association is collaborating with the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA), the NSW Architects Registration Board (BoA), the NSW Government Architect and the City of Sydney to present this new Festival.
Just for the Festival, the AAA Volunteer Tour Leaders have developed a programme of guided tours around the city that can be completed in either 1 hour or an hour and a half.
Like all the other Festival activities, the tours are free.
The RAIA has put together an all day talks programme focussed on the theme of ‘Zero Carbon’ that includes Malcolm Turnbull, the Federal Minister for the Environment.
Children have a chance to design buildings and contribute to the world’s longest architecture drawing.
