With the end of the reporting year fast approaching are you looking to top up your formal CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points? AAA partner eClassroom recently released a new course, AAA Winter Talk Series #3 - POMPIDOU CENTRE Piano & Rogers, presented by AAA President Tone Wheeler.

This 2 hour course is perfect for architects and building designers looking for Formal CPD (continuing professional development) and enthusiasts of architectural history.

Part of a series of three talks on what makes an icon? Tone Wheeler will take you to, and through, one of the most visited buildings in Paris, The Pompidou Centre. In a city that boasts the Louvre, the Musee d”Orsay and the Musee du Quai Branly, the Pompidou Centre is in fact the most popular museum in the world!

THE POMPIDOU CENTRE

The Centre national d'art et de culture Georges-Pompidou, also known as the Pompidou Centre was officially opened in 1977 and houses one of the biggest collections of moderne and contemporary art in Europe.

Tone Wheeler will take you back to the 1971 architectural competition and look at the ideas of the time, and what bought Renzo Piano from Italy and Richard Rogers from London together to create a building that many believe is a turning point in Modernism? It's a compelling story.

Not just an ‘inside-out’ building, not just a great place to see Paris, and not just a backdrop to the most lively space in Paris, it is a formative work of art, a tour-de-force of architecture.
